The easiest way of getting here is flying either to Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur (KLIA). There are then connecting flights to Krabi with Air Asia. Of the two, Bangkok is easier as the Air Asia flight leaves from the same terminal. The flight from Kuala Lumpur leaves from a different terminal (LCCT) and transfers by bus from one terminal to the other can take up to an hour! Krabi is also serviced by Bangkok Airways and Tiger Airways.
Arrangements can be made for you to be collected from Krabi airport and brought directly to your resort.
It is also possible to catch a flight to Phuket and get the ferry to Lanta, but the airport is quite some distance from the ferry terminal. Arrangements can also be made for collection from Phuket airport to your hotel, by minibus.
The islands are reached either by passenger ferry or by minivan. Ferries arrive from Krabi (2 hours), Phi Phi (1 hour), or Phuket (2–3 hours). Minivans arrive from either Krabi (90 minutes–2 hours), Phuket (4-5 hours) or Trang (90 minutes–2 hours). If approaching Koh Lanta by road, then travellers use two car ferries – the first from the mainland to Koh Lanta Noi, which takes about 20 minutes, and the second from Koh Lanta Noi to Koh Lanta Yai and taking about 5 minutes. The car ferry costs are all covered in the minivan ticket price. Prices vary upon route and ticket supplier!
