We are constantly looking for ways to improve our service to customers and, more importantly, to help the environment. For some months now, we have been researching methods for us to monitor coral and to include our customers in the experience. We have decided to incorporate the Coralwatch program in to our daily activities.
Coralwatch was developed by the University of Queensland in Australia and is a simple way of checking the health of corals. Using a coral chart, participants can record details of the coral colour, and over time, we can detect any signs of bleaching. This data is available to scientists around the world and will provide invaluable information on coral health.
We will select corals at our regular dive sites of Koh Haa and Koh Bida, and will invite our customers to participate in the monitoring program free of charge.
Check out this video to learn more about how the Coralwatch system works.
